Porter ice cream


Difficulty: moderate
  • 16 oz. Porter
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz sugar
  • 4 oz milk
  • 16 oz cream

Bring liquids to simmer with sugar. In separate bowl, beat egg. Add some of the hot liquid to the egg to set, then add to hot liquid & take off heat immediately. Blend thoroughly. Refrigerate for 2 hours. Mixture is ready for ice-cream maker.

It is surprisingly good! Stout will also work well in this recipe.
